Woody Hadeen slams as Lakeland sweeps Palm Beach
Toledo Mud Hens 7, Worcester Red Sox 3 boxA late burst of offense helped the Mud Hens overcome a rough relief outing by Matt Manning as they took this series four games to two on Sunday. Matt Vierling joined Manuel Margot, along with John Brebbia in the bullpen, in the Detroit Tigers rehab program. Vierling walked twice and struck out once in his first ABs since the beginning of spring Dietrich Enns got the start over Manning, and so perhaps this finally the start of a full conversion to relief for the 201first rounder. Enns was very good once again, tossing five innings of one run Serven got the Hens an early lead with his first home run of the season in the third inning. Andrew Navigato added a solo shot of his own in the fifth, and it was 20 allowed a run in the fifth on a trio of twoout singles before departing. Manning took over in the sixth and was greeted by a Marcelo Mayer single. A pickoff attempt went wild and was compounded by first baseman Bligh Madris collecting the ball and then throwing it away again. Mayer scored, and it was the seventh, Ryan Kreidler led off with a triple and scored on a Navigato sacrifice fly. Manning allowed a oneout walk in the bottom of the seventh and then hit Phillip Sikes. A Roman Anthony grounded forced Sikes at second, but Anthony stole second and Nick Sogard singled in the lead runner before Manning gave way to PJ Poulin. The lefty struck out Mayer to strand two, and it was a tie game again, this time a 33 in the eighth the Mud Hens offense seized control and Carlos Mendoza was the spark. Pinchhitting for Vierling in the eighth, Mendoza led off with a walk and then stole second base. Manuel Margot reached on an infield single and after a Brewer Hicklen fly out, Akil Baddoo ripped a single to right field that was too sharp to score on. The bases were juiced as the Red Sox went back to their bullpen. Madris greeted new reliever Isaiah Campbell with a tworun single, and Kreider followed with his second triple of the game. Max Anderson slapped a ground ball back up the middle, and Serretti scored the only run of the took over with the onerun lead and quickly allowed a leadoff single in the sixth. He then picked off the runner and wrapped up the inning with just a walk allowed. Meanwhile, the offense was giving him a Campos reached on catchers interference in the bottom of the first, and Eduardo Valencia brought him home with a tworun homer to left field. In the third, Trei Cruz led off with a walk and scored on a Campos double to left. Thayron Liranzo walked, and a double steal attempt got Campos to third though Liranzo was cut down at second. Eliezer Alfonzo singled in Campos, and it was 40 four scoreless, Melton allowed a single and a double to start the fifth. Troy Watson took over, and he allowed both inherited runners to score along with one more as the Rumble Ponies closed the gap to 43 Yosber Sanchez allowed two runs in the sixth, one the result of his own throwing error, and Drew Sommers allowed a run in the top of the seventh to get to the final SeaWolves did mount a seventh inning threat. Danny Serretti doubled with one out and Trei Cruz walked. A Campos line out followed, but Liranzo drew another walk to load the bases with two outs. Jack Penney lifted a sacrifice fly to plate Jenkins, and it was 20 Whitecaps.A walk to Pacheco and another one to Jenkins led to another run in the fourth as reliever Yerlin Rodriguez took over for Wisconsin. Penney singled to score Pacheco before Jenkins was thrown out trying to take third on the , the Whitecaps held a 30 lead, but just about everything went wrong from cruised through three innings, but in the fourth a leadoff walk and then a single sparked a threerun inning for the Rattlers that knocked Serwa out of the game. Colin Fields cleaned up the inning, and then Alba took over in the Whitecaps got a walk to Josue Brice ntilde;o and then a John Peck single with one out in the sixth, but that went nowhere. Alba came back out and just didnt have much command of anything. Montilla stole second base, and Rainer then scored on a soft infield single to make Bruss and his power fastball handled the Cardinals with ease in the eighth, and in the bottom half, Smith and Hadeen walked and with two outs Rainer singled in Smith for a 73 lead.
